Why do we need the ERA today?

A law is only as strong as its constitutional footing. Laws affecting American women have not had a constitution that included them, other than in the right to vote. Rights of American women have been held hostage to political gameplay, religious bias and powerful business interests. The ERA will correct that inequity. Its absence has been felt at the heart of most serious issues facing women today.

Four of those crucial issues are the gender pay gap, violence against women, workplace discrimination, and healthcare discrimination.
