We need your help

Equal Rights Maine began as a group of volunteers in 2016. We are still volunteers and our numbers are growing steadily. What has changed in 2025 is that we have joined a coalition of organizations and individuals to put an ERA into our Constitution of the State of Maine! Constitutional amendment campaigns are long, hard work. We could see, after the previous four legislative sessions failed to amend the Maine Constitution to include equal treatment for women, that much more help was needed. More Mainers need to know what is missing and how they can speak up for full constitutional rights for everyone!

We have turned to the obvious choice - Maine Women's Lobby. MWL are dedicated advocates for every aspect of gender equity in Maine since the 70's. The ERA would provide the legal bedrock for their legislative work as it gives constitutional protection to gender rights that do not exist in our state constitution. They fully support the ERA project as coalition organizers!

Work by year-round, dedicated advocates and lobbyists requires funding and that's where we need your help.  Maine Women's Lobby's Education Fund is a 501 (c)(3) that will put your tax-deductible contribution to work for the state ERA campaign. MAINE ERA for all!  Also, as their lobbying arm,

Maine Women's Lobby is a 501 (c)(4) which is not tax-deductible but which performs the essential work advocating within the legislature. Please, be generous and support the state ERA effort one way or the other.  Or both!

Equal Rights Maine raised much of the first year of organizing and development funds and we are turning to YOU to help with the pressing work in the 2025 -26 session. Be sure you have signed up with us to receive updates on the ERA campaign.

Uphold democracy and include women and all of us in the Constitution!
